South Manchester Community Midwives

South Manchester Community Midwives work in local Children's Centres, Withington Community Hospital and parents' homes to provide a complete range of maternity care to pregnant women, new mothers and their babies.  They offer a homebirth service and a Domino service (where labouring women are assessed at home by their midwife who accompanies them to the maternity unit to give birth.  They return home within 3 hours of giving birth.) They perform the examination of the newborn.  They are instrumental in the teaching of student midwives.  They also work within Wythenshawe Maternity Unit's Delivery Suite which enables them to keep their skills up to date.
